Faced with the challenge of a community with low socioeconomic status, the library in Louisa Kentucky becomes a beacon of hope among the poverty-stricken vernacular. Carlie Pelfrey, the director of the Lawrence County Public Library teamed up with OPN Architects to envision a space that elevates the small Appalachian town and gives its residents of all demographics the opportunity for betterment. The project enhances the quality of services to the community, creates greater operational efficiencies, transforms the institution internally, and emboldens services for the youth of Lawrence County.

This is a mini-documentary of the process OPN Architects and Lawrence County underwent to revitalize a community through the transformation of the town's heartbeat, its library. The film explores the socioeconomic differences between rural America and its counterpart in design, architecture, and the opportunities and resources that accompany them
